Mario Balotelli failed a late fitness test as Manchester CIty brushed Liverpool aside in a comfortable 3-0 victory.
It didn’t take long for City to get on the score sheet with Barry slotting in from Milner’s pull back after 13 minutes. City dominated the first half as Liverpool were reduced to feeding on scraps of possession.
The second half saw Liverpool get into the game a little bit more but in truth they never really showed up. 7 minutes into the half city were on the scoresheet again. Milner’s corner headed goalwards by Micah Richards with Carlos Tevez adding the touch to take the ball away from Reina. Liverpool sparked into life for a short period but couldn’t find a way past the excellent Joe Hart. The 3rd goal came after impressive work from Adam Johnson saw him wriggle free of Daniel Agger and force Martin Skrtel into a clumsy challenge inside the area. Carlos Tevez dispatching the resulting penalty. That marked the end of an impressive night for City and will have given the home fans a new air of optimism about the current season.
